Looking for some amazing Giant Clams for your reef aquarium? WE ARE THE EXCLUSIVE IMPORTER FOR OUR FRENCH POLYNESIAN CLAMS IN THE US, partnering with a clam aquaculture facility in Tahiti. We sell our clams retail on this site and at our retail outlet, as well as to other wholesalers. We do not sell directly to stores.
In addition to our great Maxima Clams, we also offer a selection of other giant clams such as Crocea, Squamosa, and Deresa Clams when available.
Maxima Clams need strong lighting to survive long term, we highly recommend 250 or 400 watt metal halide lighting or equivelant. Clams and all invertebrates require saltwater that has full strength saltwater parameters: Specific Gravity 1.025-1.027, alkalinity 8dKH, calcium 450, Magnesium 1300+, nondetectable nitrates and phosphates. Intense lighting is critical to successfully maintaining these clams in captivity, they obtain their nutritional needs from the products of photosynthesis and therefore require very intense lighting. If you do not have this type of lighting they will typically live for up to 2 months and then suddenly retract their mantle and die within a few days. The loss is due to inadequate lighting and a lack of nutrition. If you do not have the correct lighting we stongly discourage you from buying these clams. With the correct lighting they are hardy and easy to keep, we have kept some at our facility well over a year with no problems. Coloration in clams is greatly affected by viewing angle. All of our photos are 'top down' shots. Maxima Clams are photographed in our Greenhouse under natural sunlight, while other clams species may be in one of our indoor vats. Color will vary in your tank especially if viewed from the side and under different lighting.
